Where Cursor wins

  • Cheapest paid entry. Plus is $8/month if Grok and Cursor's own models cover your work.
  • Cheaper teams on list price. One Premium seat is $30. Devin Teams costs $80 plus $40 per full dev seat: $120 for one dev, $280 for five, vs $150 for five Cursor Premium seats.
  • Premium extras. Premium adds cloud agents and automations, code hosting, and AI code reviews (Bugbot).
  • More tiers in between. $30 and $100 steps between entry and $200, where Devin jumps straight from $20 to $200.

Where Devin Desktop wins

  • Claude, GPT and Gemini for $20. Pro includes frontier models in its quota. In Cursor, those models need Premium ($30+) and are billed at API list price from the first use.
  • One place for many agents. The Agent Command Center manages local and cloud Devin agents, plus third-party ACP agents such as Codex and Claude Agent.
  • Cloud agents on the $20 plan. Devin Cloud access comes with Pro. Cursor's cloud agents start at Premium ($30).
  • Easy to try from Cursor. Onboarding imports VS Code or Cursor settings.
  • Watch out: quotas can limit power users, and some docs and packages still say Windsurf.

Verdict: who should pick which

Pick Cursor if…

  • You're fine on Grok/Composer models and want the lowest price ($8 Plus).
  • You're buying for a small team and want the lowest per-seat price ($30).
  • You want Bugbot code review and cloud automations in the same tool, or you'll use the bundled Grok and X benefits.

Pick Devin Desktop (Windsurf) if…

  • Claude, GPT or Gemini are your daily models and you want them included for $20/month.
  • You run several agents at once (Devin, Codex, Claude Agent) and want one command center for all of them.
  • You were a happy Windsurf user: same plan and price, new look.

FAQ

Is Windsurf still available?

Yes, under a new name. Cognition renamed Windsurf to Devin Desktop on June 2, 2026, and windsurf.com now redirects to devin.ai. Existing Windsurf users got it as a standard update, with the same plan, pricing and extensions.

Is Cursor or Windsurf (Devin Desktop) cheaper?

Cursor has the cheapest paid plan: Plus at $8/month, but it includes Grok models only. Devin Desktop Pro is $20/month and includes frontier models from OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and SpaceXAI in its quota. If you want Claude or GPT, Devin is cheaper: in Cursor those need Premium ($30/month) or higher, plus API list price.

Can I use Claude models in Cursor and Devin Desktop?

In Devin Desktop, Claude models are included in the Pro ($20) quota, and extra usage is bought at API pricing. In Cursor, Claude and other third-party models are available on Premium ($30) and above, billed separately at API list price from the first use. Devin Desktop can also run Anthropic's Claude Agent through the Agent Client Protocol.

Can I move my Cursor setup to Devin Desktop, or the other way?

Yes. Devin Desktop's onboarding can import VS Code or Cursor settings and keybindings, and it's backwards-compatible with Windsurf and VS Code extensions. Cursor can import VS Code extensions, themes, settings and keybindings. Cursor also reads AGENTS.md files for agent instructions.

Which is better for teams?

On list price, Cursor is cheaper per seat: team seats start at $30 (Premium), and you can mix Premium, Super and Ultra seats. Devin Desktop Teams is $80/month for the team plan plus $40/month per full dev seat, up to 200 users, with centralized billing, an admin dashboard and priority support. Devin includes Claude, GPT and Gemini in each seat's quota; Cursor bills them at API price.

What happened to Windsurf's Cascade agent?

Devin Local replaced Cascade as the primary local agent. Cognition rewrote it from scratch in Rust with the same capabilities and settings, and says it's up to 30% more token-efficient. The legacy Cascade agent stayed available through July 1, 2026 for migration.
